Menopause/Perimenopause
Dr. Tosch helps patients navigate through the changes that come with perimenopause and menopause, and tailors a holistic management plan to support women to maintain their health and feel their best through this change.
Many women struggle to find a GP who listens to their concerns about perimenopause and menopausal symptoms, and may go years feeling that their symptoms are dismissed or simply put down to lifestyle stress. Dr. Tosch has heard stories from her patients of being told they were too young to be perimenopausal, that it’s just how all busy mums feel, or to come back when they turn 50. To help more women access holistic, evidence-based perimenopause and menopause treatments, she now offers menopause consultations at several locations. In this capacity Dr. Tosch acts as a menopause GP specialist and leaves the management of other aspects of health to your usual GP.
Dr. Tosch is experienced in prescribing non-hormonal and hormonal treatments for menopause and perimenopause, including commercially available bio-identical hormones, and can tailor a regime to suit each woman’s unique needs. Treatments she offers include: Oestrogen (Estrogel, Sandrena gel, patches, COCP, and orals), Progesterone and Progestogens (Prometrium, orals, POPs, and IUDs such as Mirena), Tibolone, Anti-depressants, Veoza, Vaginal treatments (Vagifem, Ovestin, Intrarosa), and Testosterone (Androfeme).
Initial One Hour Appointment
During your first appointment Dr. Tosch will review your full medical history including medication, substance use, blood pressure, weight, family history, gynaecological history, preventative health screening, mental health, sleep, diet, exercise, and of course your menopause symptoms. She will help arrange any investigations required, talk to you about what treatments may be suitable for your situation (hormonal and non-hormonal options), and make a personalised, written plan to maintain your health and help you feel your best through this change.
Follow Up 30 Min Appointments
A 30 minute follow-up appointment is usually scheduled 2-3 months after your initial appointment to review progress and results, and make any tweaks that may be needed based on your symptoms. It usually takes one or two follow ups to optimise treatment - often more if we are also adding in testosterone - then once things are going smoothly most patients only need to check in once or twice a year for scripts and reviews, or may get their regular GP to take over their menopause prescriptions.
